NEW for 2024/2025 - Extended math - based on the student's progress in grade 9, students will be placed in either Math 15 or Math 10-3 in person during the first semester. In the second semester, students will either continue with Math 10-3, progress to Math 20-3, or take Math 10C. These courses will all be in-person courses at St. Gabes. Students who wish to take classes online will be able to take them asynchronously with access to a teacher for questions, support and assessment.

NEW for 2024/2025 - Math 20-3 Bootcamp - students have the opportunity to take Math 20-3 in conjunction with Science 24 PLUS two options in a bootcamp style where they will come to school one day per week in person for the entire semester and learn in a hands-on, engaging learning environment. The bootcamp will be in-person only. Students wishing to take Math 20-3 online will take it asynchronously with access to a teacher for support, questions, and assessments.

Alberta’s math program encourages students to develop mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills and make connections between mathematics and its applications. Our program also builds students’ confidence in their mathematical skills and appreciation of the subject.

Alberta's math programs require that students can not only add, subtract, multiply and divide, but that they also know how to reason and solve problems in real-life situations.

The Grade 10-12 math programs were developed in collaboration with post-secondary institutions, teachers, administrators, and parents, and they are aligned with the most up-to-date research into the teaching and learning of math.

Generally, the "dash 1" (-1) stream is for students who are university bound. The "dash 2" (-2) stream, while still academic, is suited for students who need more assistance in the subject matter. After completing the 10-2, 20-2 and 30-2 stream, a student can move to the 30-1 course in the subject.
