National Indigenous Peoples' Day

Today we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples' Day - a day to honour the history and traditions of

Indigenous People in Canada. Indigenous Peoples are a significant part of our history and culture and while there is great diversity amongst Indigenous Peoples, the traditional lands, practices and values are systems that all people can learn from and about.

As Treaty People, we all have an opportunity and a responsibility to educate ourselves and to celebrate traditional practices and Indigenous rights so that we can become the nation we were always meant to be - a nation rich in traditions and diversity. Together we can face the challenges that lie ahead.
